What's on this calendar?

This calendar shows 2026 month by month, with the federal holidays highlighted. Every week has its week number, so you can see which week a date falls in. Well-known days that are not days off, such as Mother's Day or Halloween, are marked separately.

Week numbers on the calendar

The calendar follows the US convention: weeks start on Sunday, and week 1 is the week that contains January 1, however short it is. That's the same system used by Excel's WEEKNUM function by default and by many American calendars and planners.

Many international companies use the ISO 8601 standard instead, where weeks start on Monday and week 1 contains the first Thursday of the year. Under ISO 8601, 2026 has 53 weeks. The two systems can be a week apart, so check which one is meant when someone mentions a week number.

Holidays on the calendar

Some holidays have a fixed date, such as New Year's Day and Christmas Day. Others fall on a particular weekday, such as the first or last Monday of a month, or depend on Easter, which falls on Sunday April 5 in 2026.

Do you get federal holidays off?

Federal holidays apply to federal employees and offices. Most states observe them too, but private employers decide for themselves which days they give off, and federal law does not require paid holidays. When a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, federal employees get the Friday before off; on a Sunday, the Monday after. Five holidays always fall on a Monday, thanks to the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
